Every carrot and cucumber can be a tool to make our earth a better place. DIRT empowers farmers through funding and education to make the changes they wish to make in order to adopt farming practices without toxic chemicals and to rebuild the fertility within their soils. 

Let’s start from the beginning. It turns out that just because food is grown on a farm, it doesn’t mean it is good for us or good for the planet. Numerous toxic chemicals are sprayed on vegetables and grains, animals and fish are filled with so many hormones and antibiotics they are hardly alive any longer in some cases.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. At DIRT we are working with farmers to co-create a better future for them, for us, and for the Earth. 

HOW TO GET STARTED

You’re well on your way, just a few more steps to solidify your position as a Tip The Earth member. Simply follow the below steps to onboard your restaurant as part of Tip The Earth. We will be proud to have you, and we are so grateful for your contribution.

  • There are a few ways to inform your customers about this charitable endeavour, especially when they ask “What is this 1% tip for the Earth on my bill?”…which is why we recommend setting up the following:

    • Add a QR code on each receipt that takes customers to a dedicated #TipTheEarth page which explains why this campaign is so important.

    • Add a sentence at the bottom of your menu explaining that you are part of this campaign, such as: “There is a 1% Tip for The Earth added to each bill that goes to a climate charity DIRT. Please request to opt out if you’d prefer.”

    • We understand that every menu is unique, so if you have a multi-page menu, we recommend creating a page within it to introduce the concept, speak about the cause, include information about the farmers that will be supported via Tip The Earth campaign and perhaps speak about where you source your ingredients. 

    • A separate leaflet explaining the concept placed on each table or by the till is also a wonderful idea.

    • We recommend creating a profile page on your website for DIRT Charity explaining the cause and your involvement with it. 

    • We recommend creating a grid post on your social media platforms about being part of this campaign. A big part of this campaign is inviting your customers to join in on social media and use the hashtag #TipTheEarth and tag @DIRT.charity so that we could reshare.

    • Lastly, we will provide you with a folder of useful content to share with your community of patrons such as social media assets, engaging videos, and all the information you might need to set up the campaign within your restaurant.
