A POWERFUL ACTION…

It is obvious that our food is grown in soil, but what about our dresses and suits, our chairs and curtains, shoes and bags, perfumes and skincare? Yes, all our garments, textiles and cosmetic ingredients originated on a farm. Each time we buy items that are labelled as natural, such as linen, cashmere, silk, cotton, lavender, wood, paper, hand cream…we must remember that farmers had to grow them for us. 

Those farmers are in need of our support, so they can rehabilitate the Earth’s soils through their conscious farming. Farmers want to treat their land with care and respect, but due to the exploitation in agriculture, they often just can’t afford to make that happen. Through your Tip for This Earth, this is becoming possible - thank you! 

The Tip for The Earth is exactly the same as the tip for the service at a restaurant. Since you are not necessarily providing such service, we are inviting you to add a Tip For The Earth at checkout, so that your customers could Tip The Earth for all that she has given in the process of producing the products you sell. 

We are sure you will agree - she deserves it!

HOW TO GET STARTED

You’re well on your way, just a few more steps to solidify your position as a Tip The Earth member. Simply follow the below steps to onboard your restaurant as part of Tip The Earth.  We will be proud to have you, and we are so grateful for your contribution.

  • We recommend two options, please kindly consider at least one of them, but we will be very grateful if you can do both:

    • Add a roll up function at checkout, where your customers can choose how much they would like to donate on top of their purchase (this amount can be a percentage of their choice, for example). 

    • Create a product that costs 1% of their entire basket and is automatically added to each basket, so that your customer could choose to opt out if they wish to at checkout. This “product” can be called A Tip For The Earth.  

    The total will be reflected within the final sum of the receipt.

  • If you can and your system allows it, please do consider adding a percentage or a small amount onto every receipt for in-person purchases, inviting your customers to add a Tip For The Earth.

  • There are a few ways to inform your customers about this charitable endeavor, especially when they ask “What is this 1% tip for the Earth?”

    …which is why we recommend setting up the following:

    • Add a QR code on each receipt, leaflet or booklet that takes customers to a dedicated #TipTheEarth page, which explains what the campaign is all about.

    • Add a sentence at the bottom of your receipt explaining that you are part of this campaign, such as: “There is a 1% Tip For The Earth added to each receipt that goes to a climate charity DIRT. Please request to opt out if you’d prefer.”

    • Generating a leaflet explaining the concept and placing it by the till is a wonderful idea, please ask for our help if you need guidance during this process. 

    • We recommend creating a profile page on your website for DIRT Charity explaining the cause and your involvement with it.

    • We recommend creating a grid post on your social media platforms about being part of this campaign. A big part of this campaign is inviting your customers to join in on social media and use the hashtag #TipTheEarth and tag @DIRT.charity so that we could reshare.

    • Lastly, we will provide you with a folder of useful content, that includes assets to share with your community, such as beautiful images and videos, as well as assets to help you set up, such as the DIRT logo and information you can use to tell the story from your perspective.

    • Many of you have been asking for an event with DIRT Charity to celebrate the Tip The Earth collaboration with us.

    • We would be so excited to plan this with you as a gesture of gratitude once you have reached the first £50,000 milestone of donations raised for DIRT Charity and our global work to restore balance and harmony to our planet Earth.
